Referral rewards are revoked when the first order is cancelled or refunded
We’ve updated the referral reward logic to ensure rewards are only granted for successfully completed purchases. If a referred friend’s first order is later cancelled or fully refunded, referral rewards will no longer remain active.
What’s changing
When a referred friend completes their first order but later cancels or fully refunds it:
- Both the referrer’s and the referred friend’s referral rewards are revoked
- If the referral reward is points, the referrer’s points are fully deducted
- The referred friend’s referral points are also fully deducted if the order is fully refunded
- Points earned from the order itself continue to follow the existing refund logic
If the referral reward is a discount:
- Discounts for both the referrer and the referred friend are disabled
- Disabled discounts cannot be used again
- In the My rewards tab, the discount status is shown as Expired
Why this matters
This update helps maintain fairness and accuracy in your referral program by ensuring rewards are tied to completed, non-refunded purchases. It prevents misuse, keeps reward balances accurate, and ensures your referral incentives align with real customer value.
