How your customers earn points from the “Happy Birthday” action

Where to enable and earn the “Happy Birthday” reward
Recognizing your customers on their special day is a wonderful way to strengthen your relationship with them through your loyalty program. To enable this feature, head over to Point programs > Earn points > Happy birthday > Enter the desired point amount > Set the Status to ‘Active‘ > Save.
Any signed-in customers can earn points by sharing their birthday details through the following steps:
- Navigate to the Earn Points tab on the widget/loyalty page.
- Click ‘Enter Info‘ on the “Happy Birthday” point-earning action.
- Fill in the required information.
- Click ‘Save‘.
How the Happy Birthday point-earning action works
1. When do customers receive this reward?
Customers will receive their reward on their actual birthday, not immediately after entering the date.
Example: On May 12th, Ivy enters her birthday as December 5th. She will receive her Happy Birthday points on December 5th.
2. How often do customers receive this reward?
Each customer can only receive the Happy Birthday reward once per year. Even if they change their birthday date after initially setting it, they won’t receive the reward again until the next year.
3. What is the box “Customers will not get points this year if they enter a date in the next 30 days” about?
You have the option to withhold the Happy Birthday points until next year if the entered birthday is within the next 30 days by checking a box. If left unchecked, the customer will receive their points this year.
Example: Today is May 12th, 2024, and Ivy enters her birthday as May 20th, which is within the next 30 days.
- Checked box: Ivy will receive her points on May 20th, 2025.
- Unchecked box: Ivy will receive her points on May 20th, 2024.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember, even when this box is unchecked, the customer’s birthday still needs to be at least 1 day after the date they fill out their birthday information.
Example: Today is May 12th, 2024.
- 1 day after fill date: If Ivy’s birthday is tomorrow – May 13th – and she fills out her birthday info today, she will get her points tomorrow.
- Same day as fill date: If Ivy’s birthday is today as well – May 12th – and she fills out her birthday info today, she won’t earn birthday points this year.
